General Questions

Will I see joins in my carpet?

There is always a possibility of join/seam visibility. In general, heavier weight cut pile carpets will hide seams best, whereas looped carpets could show more. Natural light will also play a role to whether you notice a seam or not. No seam is completely invisible but we do our best to hide seams and make them less noticeable. Talk to your Carpet Mill team about getting a join plan prior to installation to ensure you are happy with where we have placed the joins.

Do I need to be home for the installation?

You do not need to be home on the day of the installation. You can instruct the team at Carpet Mill where you have left a key. If uplift/disposal or furniture shifting has been requested just ensure that all areas are cleared and ready for your new flooring.

What is door trimming and do you offer this service?

We do not offer door trimming services. We recommend getting a professional to plane these once your carpet has been fitted. Door trimming is required if the new carpet and underlay are thicker than the existing carpet pile and may affect the door opening/closing.

What do I do with leftover flooring from my installation?

There is always an extent of wastage left over from a job that will be left on site. Carpet Mill minimises wastage by shape cutting and carefully planning each job to ensure you are not paying for more than you have to.

Is furniture shifting included?

If furniture shifting has been included in your quote as requested, the installers will move the large items of furniture in order to install your new carpet. Small items, breakables, soft furnishings, pianos and electronics need to be moved prior to the installers arriving on site.

Do your installers repair squeaky floorboards?

This does need to be done prior to our installers arriving.

Does power need to be on for the installation?

Yes, power does need to be on for your new carpet installation
